The rock and tree hyraxes are a group of herviborous animals living in rocky outcrops of west central Africa. All have uique foot structures that provide a firm grip on the rocks and trees in which they live. Heterohyrax and Procavia are terrestrial and live in colonies of 6 to 50 individuals in areas of jumbled boulders and rock outcrops. Dendrohyrax live in the trees.
